Mahonri Stewart Interviews Fiona Givens

2013-04-08 The God Who WeepsMy friend Mahonri finally got my mum Fiona to finish her answers to his interview questions, and he’s got the whole response at his website. The questions are mostly about the book she wrote with my dad (The God Who Weeps), and you should definitely check it out!

  1. What a fantastic interview. I’m sure you get this a lot, but your dad’s work has helped me cope with a lot of doubts that I have about the Church and the gospel. His ‘By the Hand of Mormon’ really put the Book of Mormon front and center for me and caused me to start taking it more seriously. Your parents’ new book came out when I was really struggling. Between their wisdom and some shared by Sam Brown, I’ve begun to find more sure footing. Your own insights give me hope for not only the Church’s future, but my own future in the Church. So, thanks.

I wrote a WWE article about the weeping God of Enoch: http://www.withoutend.org/mourn-mourn-weeping-god/

  2. Those are some very thoughtful words, WalkerW, I’ll share them with my folks. I know it will mean a lot to them.

I’m also going to go read your piece at WWE.

  3. I hope it does. If you haven’t noticed, your own writing has been a big help. Most of what I’ve written since I started following you has been in large part inspired by something you touched on. I know more about economics, management, and psychology than I do about Romantic period literature, so it helps to read someone with similar interests making similar connections.
